Isocyanates are the biggest cause of occupational asthma within the UK, with vehicle paint sprayers being nearly 80 times more likely to develop occupational asthma than workers in other industries.
When using spray booths, there is a requirement for the measurement and display of the booth’s clearance times set by the HSE and MVR (Motor Vehicle Repair) in order to meet COSSH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations.
The HSE recommends that the clearance time of spray booths should be checked before the filters in the spray booths are changed, and should also be included in the 14 month maintenance examination.
At ELAS Occupational Health, we will take care of the measurement of your clearance times and provide you with the necessary signage needed to remain compliant.
